Let's be honest: it's crazy out there. We wouldn't say Delhi is our favorite city in India, but if you look past the chaos, there are plenty of fun things to do. If you're like us, you'll want to get out of Delhi as soon as you can. We suggest two days to check out the top sights.Delhi HighlightsHumayan’s TombHumayan's Tomb is a significant monument in India, and it's the resting place of the mighty Emperor Humayun. It also inspired other architectural feats across the country and was the first garden-tomb in India. Currently, it's a UNESCO World Heritage site and absolutely worth a visit when you're in Delhi.Dilli Haat MarketWhen it comes to shopping in India, Delhi is the place to be! You'll find a ton of markets with a variety of handicrafts and local goods. It's the street food capital and it's way more affordable than restaurants. Take a look at this list and work your way through all the amazingness for a happy tummy!Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Sikh TempleDelhi has plenty of peaceful spots, and one of them is the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Sikh temple. You won't find it in many tourist guides, but it's worth a visit for its tranquil atmosphere. Sikh Temples are quite humbling, often providing free meals to anyone who visits, no matter their faith or background. Make sure you visit a Sikh Temple while you're in Delhi on the Golden Triangle Itinerary - it may be your only chance to experience it!
Day 2 :
Day 4 - Day 5 (1 Night Agra)
Agra is the next stop on your Golden Triangle Itinerary and it's not quite as hard as Delhi. But the must-see in Agra is the Taj Mahal - a man-made wonder everyone should see in their lifetime. It's like a diamond in the rough!Don't miss out on these highlights in Agra when you visit India's Golden Triangle. The Taj MahalWe were anxious that the Taj Mahal would be a letdown, despite hearing many interpretations of how beautiful it was. All our worries were for nothing, because it was impossible to describe how beautiful the Taj Mahal is. The sunrise here was ethereal. We watched the sunlight hit the marble dome, and it was almost like a dream. Security here is tight, so make sure you check out what items are restricted.*Remember – the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays.2. Agra FortAgra Fort used to be where all the powerful emperors lived back in the day. Now, it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and while it's not the most amazing site in India, it's still worth visiting. You can easily explore the palaces and halls and you can even catch a glimpse of the Taj Mahal.3. Sikindra – Emperor Akbar's MausoleumThis monument is the final resting place of Emperor Akbar, a 15th century Mughal ruler who was known for his tolerant attitude towards religion. The mausoleum reflects this, with a mix of Hindu, Islamic, Christian, Jain and Buddhist elements. We thought it'd be cool to give you a heads-up about this hidden gem and share it with you in a more casual way.4. Sunset at Mehtab BaghWhen we first heard about Mehtab Bagh, otherwise known as the Moonlight Golden, we were told it was a secret viewpoint of the Taj Mahal. Naturally, we were intrigued, and we set off one evening at sunset. Gorgeous gardens, stunning Taj Mahal, and breathtaking sunset make this place special. Even in the worst weather, it's still incredible.
Day 3 :
Day 5 - Day 6 ( 2 Nights Jaipur)
Jaipur is our favorite on this Golden Triangle tour. It's crazy, but it's got something that draws you in. There's cars, people, dogs, cows, monkeys, camels and horses all trying to fit in. It's amazing and the energy is awesome. The architectural wonders of Jaipur are the real highlight of the city, and there's plenty of culture to explore too. We suggest spending 2-3 nights there to make sure you don't miss any must-see attractions. Here are some of the top sights we suggest seeing on your Golden Triangle India Itinerary.1. Amer Fort and the Amber PalaceThe Amber Palace is an incredible world heritage site, with a rich history as the extravagant home of Rajput Maharajas. The sandstone and marble structure of the palace is breathtaking and should not be missed when visiting Jaipur. It's easy to see why this is one of the highlights of the city - it's stunning. The style has been changed to be more casual. You'll get awesome views of the city from Amer Fort, plus it gives you that serenity that's difficult to find in India.2. Sunset at Nahargarh FortNahargarh, which means 'tiger', was once a part of the wall that surrounded the old town. Going up the hills, you get a gorgeous view of the city. Experience some of the most stunning sunsets on our travels in India, and Nahargarh Fort was no exception. Surprisingly, the pollution in Jaipur actually contributed to a really beautiful sunset. The sun seemed surreal and misty as it faded away, leaving behind an orange and pink sky.3. Architectural Wonders in the Pink CityIf you're looking for something special, check out Jaipur, the 'Pink City'. It's known for its trademark terracotta architecture that dominates the old city. New developments all have to stick to the same color scheme - pretty wild, right? And there are some really impressive structures here too, like the City Palace and Hawa Mahal. Even the bazaars are great. So why not take a walking adventure and explore this playground? You never know what you'll find!4. Galta Ji – The Monkey TempleGalta Ji, also known as Monkey Temple, is one of our favorite temples in India. It's a Hindu place of worship and is home to thousands of cheeky macaques. The location of the temple is amazing - it's in the middle of a mountain pass and its seven holy baths are filled with natural springs. It's such a great experience - mysterious and powerful - just how a pilgrimage should be. Rather than getting there early to beat the crowds, we liked seeing the spiritual ceremonies in the temple later in the day.
